I always fall hard for a traditional big-block muscle car formula that has been enhanced with modern chassis architecture. This '65 Chevelle gets that point across with that rebuilt, period-correct L78 396ci big-block V8 paired with a heavy-duty Turbo 400 automatic transmission, with the handling all improved with a full CPP adjustable coilover system and a CPP big brake kit. With the refreshed interior as well, this first-generation Chevelle takes everything we love about mid-sixties Chevy muscle and gives it modern reliability where it counts the most.

Description

This 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle is a modified coupe that features a rebuilt big-block V8, a three-speed automatic transmission, and comprehensive chassis and suspension upgrades. The vehicle was refurbished under previous ownership, with work including an interior replacement completed approximately two years ago along with recent exterior trim and weatherstripping updates. The mechanical components have accumulated approximately 1,000 miles since the completion of the powertrain rebuild. The Chevelle is now offered by the private seller with a clean California title.

The body is finished in red and features recently replaced chrome bumpers and exterior trim. The restoration included the installation of new window seals and weatherstripping throughout the body.

The car rides on 18-inch Vision 143 Torque wheels mounted with Lexani tires in a squared 235/40R18 setup. The trunk houses a recently installed, polished replacement fuel tank along with refreshed inner fender structures.

The engine bay houses an L78 396ci big-block V8 equipped with a carburetor and an oversized Champion aluminum radiator. Exhaust exits through custom headers leading to a stainless steel exhaust system with custom mufflers. The electrical system has been updated with a replacement OEM-style wiring harness. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission and a built rear axle assembly.

The chassis features a full CPP coilover suspension system with adjustable dampening at all four corners. Front suspension geometry is augmented by Classic Performance Products (CPP) control arms, and steering control is maintained through updated linkage. Braking performance is handled by a CPP big brake kit featuring multi-piston calipers over oversized rotors. The undercarriage displays the stainless steel exhaust routing and the finished floors from the restoration.

The cabin features a refreshed interior that was installed approximately two years ago to replicate the factory configuration. The dashboard houses a standard instrument cluster and controls for the functional heater, though the vehicle is not equipped with air conditioning or a stereo system. The front bucket seats are split by a floor-mounted shifter that manages the automatic transmission, and the carpeting, door panels, and headliner were all replaced during the interior overhaul.
