Wrench Report
RestoMods Head Mechanic. 20 year classic car mechanic & builder.
This Viper Red F1 is a textbook example of a "Best of Show" restomod, balancing a classic steel silhouette with some serious modern hardware. It's moved on from its farm truck roots, now sitting low on adjustable coilovers and staggered 20-inch Torq Thrust IIs. Under the hood, the 350ci V8 has been sharpened up with a Holley Sniper 2 EFI system, making it a reliable cruiser. From the diamond-stitched TMI interior to the Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners, every inch of this build has been touched, tucked, and polished.
Description
This custom Ford F1 restomod was the subject of a frame-off build completed by the previous owner before being acquired by the seller in March 2023. Showcasing a blend of classic styling and modern performance, the truck has earned numerous accolades in Central Ohio, including "Best of Show" and "Best Ford" honors. The sale includes a custom fitted cover, a comprehensive binder of build photos, manuals, and maintenance records documenting the transformation. Now showing approximately 3,423 miles, this F1 is located in Galena, Ohio and is offered with a clean Ohio title by the private seller.

The exterior is finished in vibrant Viper Red over a straight steel body with several custom modifications. Visual highlights include a painted front grille with chrome accents, LED headlights, and a custom-cut chrome rear bumper. The cargo bed features refinished golden oak planks secured with stainless steel strips, housing a fuel filler that leads to a frame-mounted fuel cell. Details include custom taillights, one-piece side windows with power operation, and a tailgate featuring hidden cables and internal locks. The truck rides on chrome 20-inch American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels measuring 8" wide in the front and 10" in the rear, all wrapped in Nitto NT555 tires with only a few hundred miles of use.

The engine bay is home to a 350ci Chevrolet V8 that was recently upgraded under current ownership with a polished Holley Sniper 2 EFI system. The fuel system was further enhanced with a high-pressure in-tank pump and stainless steel lines. Polished billet aluminum components, including the air cleaner and valve covers, provide a show-quality finish alongside a remote-fill reservoir for the Wilwood brake master cylinder. Cooling is handled by an aluminum radiator, and power is sent to the rear wheels via a TCI 700R4 automatic transmission and a 9-inch rear end with 3.73:1 gears.

The chassis was stripped, blasted, and painted during the restoration and now features a modern rack-and-pinion steering system. The suspension is equipped with adjustable coilover shocks at all four corners, providing a lowered stance and improved handling. Braking is managed by a four-wheel Wilwood disc system featuring red-finished 4 piston calipers over drilled and slotted rotors at the front and slotted rotors at the rear. The undercarriage presents in a clean, finished state consistent with a garage-kept, fair-weather vehicle.

The cabin has been modernized with TMI Pro Series bucket seats upholstered in black with red diamond stitching, complemented by matching hand-made door panels. Creature comforts include a Vintage Air climate control system and a Boss touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, and a backup camera. The audio system utilizes four speakers paired with a powered subwoofer mounted under the driver's seat. Additional interior appointments include retractable three-point seat belts, replacement floor pedals for increased legroom, and new glass and seals for the windshield and rear cab window.

Comments & Bid History
Beautiful truck. I got busy this afternoon and wasn’t able to keep track of the bidding. What is your reserve price
I’m sure the bidding will exceed mine before it’s over but this is a beautiful truck.
What are the levers in the floorboard on the passenger side?
SprintGuyNow, Yes the truck handles and drives great! No concerns about driving it as you suggest to Car Shows… I have done the same.
Hi 1978, regarding my earlier question about how the truck handles at freeway/interstate speeds. Are you comfortable driving it 30-40 miles away to a show on the freeway? Many shows around me are a longer drive and I want to take it to them all. Thx!
Does anyone know what shipping enclosed trailer would cost for shipping from Oh to Leesburg Florida?
Is this a final bid auction or a reserve auction? Thank you
SprintGuyNow, No gauged tach on this one. The truck has Holley Sniper 2 and the controller is stored in the glove box and I believe it has a tach display setting. Some people mount the controller but for me, once it's set up there's no need to mess with it and is stowed it out of sight... To your question about selling it, I get attached to things I love but have another project car and ready to sell...
For those who have requested truck dimensions: Approx. 188" Long x Approx. 73" Wide x Approx. 73" High...
Last question: is this a reliable vehicle to drive around town and to close shows without any problems?
Thanks for the quick response. What does it tach at 65mph? And I noticed you have only owned it 3 years, why letting go so soon? I am currently selling my 74 Bronco owned 23 years and having difficult time letting go.
SprintGuyNow, I’ll have the dimensions posted for you later this afternoon… Should be no problem to drive “Red” to shows - I have… Thanks for your interest!
You have an absolutely beautiful ride! Looks like we are trying to figure out if it will fit in our garage, so if you could please also measure the total height I would appreciate it. Also what is the drive-ability on the interstate/freeway to drive to shows 30-40 miles away. Thx!
Russ, Yes I can… I’m at an appointment & will get your total length measurement posted this afternoon…
There are two levers on the floor. I know one is the transmission shifter, what's the other for?
Russ, It was more of a Labor of Love for me; my goal was to make the truck the best it could be regardless of cost. I prefer to let the auction/market play out... the Buyer will receive a binder of all the info available on the truck.
Russ, To your question… I’ve invested much time & money into the Resto to get to the condition you see in the photos… but with any auction, the market will decide what this F-1 is worth today. I’m excited to see “Red” go to a new home where it will be loved & appreciated.
