Wrench Report

By Chris Esparza

RestoMods Head Mechanic. 20 year classic car mechanic & builder.

Very tastefully done restoration. You're going to have a lot of fun dropping the top on this thing, revving up the rebuilt 302ci Hi-Po V8 and shifting that nice Tremec five-speed manual. The red exterior paint appears to be in great shape, as is the convertible top. The upgrades to the suspension and front brakes should be recognized, and the interior is well sorted. Overall a clean Falcon that's ready for summer!

Description

This 1965 Ford Falcon Futura is a custom street rod that represents the results of a meticulous six-year build completed in 2021. Since the completion of the project, the vehicle has been driven less than 1,000 miles, with fewer than 200 miles added by the current owner. The car features an upgraded 302ci High-Performance V8, a five-speed manual gearbox, and comprehensive chassis and steering modernizations. The odometer shows 63,000 miles, and the vehicle is offered as a true mileage unknown (TMU) example with a clean Kentucky title.

The exterior is finished in vibrant red paint, accented by a black convertible top that is free of rips or tears. The car retains its factory-style chrome bumpers, horizontal grille, and side sweeping brightwork trim, all refurbished during the extensive build process. All body panels show proper alignment, and the the seller notes the car has been consistently stored indoors to preserve the condition of the paint and weatherstripping.

The vehicle rides on classic five-spoke Magnum wheels dressed in chrome. These wheels are wrapped in white-letter Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires, establishing a period-correct, muscle-era stance.

The refreshed cabin features bucket seats up front, a rear bench seat, and custom-fabricated red and black two-tone door panels. Premium carpeting covers the floors, and a remote-controlled aftermarket stereo system has been integrated into the cabin for modern media connectivity.

The interior is also presented with a Grant wood-rimmed sport steering wheel and a floor-mounted shifter for the Tremec five-speed transmission. A column-mounted Sunpro tachometer tracks engine speed, while an auxiliary gauge unit has been installed to monitor vitals like temperature, oil pressure, and voltage.

The engine bay is extensively detailed with chrome components, red spark plug wires, and braided stainless steel lines. At its center is a rebuilt 302ci Hi-Po V8 engine equipped with a performance Ford "B" camshaft, upgraded valve springs, a Street Master intake manifold, and a Holley Brawler 650-cfm four-barrel carburetor with an electric choke. Power is transferred through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission fitted with a new clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate, which leads to a durable 9-inch rear end.

The chassis has been heavily upgraded with components sourced primarily from Summit Racing, including an Open Tracker A-arm front suspension configuration and manually adjustable rear air shocks to tune ride height. The car is equipped with a modern Borgeson power steering box and a power brake booster that operates power front disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors alongside completely rebuilt rear drum units.
