Wrench Report
RestoMods Head Mechanic. 20 year classic car mechanic & builder.
Raw mechanical power. Stroker 383, multiple performance upgrades, and 2,800-rpm B&M make this a spirited driver. Especially off the line. Be sure to see the images of the paint, great color and some typical classic car things worth noting. Definitely a car to put a smile on your face as you smash the gas.
Description
This 1976 Chevrolet Camaro modified coupe features a high-performance 383ci stroker V8 paired with an automatic transmission and a performance stall converter. The engine was built and installed in 2025, accumulating approximately 2,500 miles since completion. Built using a bored vintage small-block casting and upgraded internal components, the car is configured for improved acceleration and straight-line performance. The vehicle is currently stored in Rhode Island, and while a small lien is present on the clean Rhode Island title, it will be paid off by the seller prior to delivery.

The body is finished in Dark Cherry Pearl Candy Metallic paint, which exhibits a deep luster alongside a few minor blemishes on the forward edge of the hood. The exterior retains its factory body panels with proper alignment, augmented by a functional steel cowl-induction hood with "383" badging, a front chin spoiler, and a rear lip spoiler. The front bumper has been tucked closer to the body apron to create a cleaner, more aggressive facial profile, and all of the factory chrome trim, glass, and script badging are present and in good condition.

The car stands with a classic muscle-car rake on a set of new five-spoke American Racing Torq Thrust alloy wheels. These are wrapped in staggered BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires, sized 215/65R15 in the front and significantly wider 275/60R15 out back for a planted rear footprint. The solid trunk compartment is fully detailed and houses a custom car cover, while the undercarriage remains clean and structurally sound.

The interior is appointed with factory-style high-back bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl, which matches the standard rear bench seat, door cards, and carpeting. The black headliner is well-fitted and in great shape, and a factory full-length center console divides the cockpit. Passenger entertainment is updated with a modern Kenwood AM/FM head unit featuring Bluetooth connectivity, which sends audio to replacement speakers.

The dashboard features a factory four-spoke steering wheel and a floor-mounted console shifter. The stock black dashboard and steering wheel shows a few typical aging imperfections, including a hairline blemish in the corner near the lower windshield trim which is supplied in the photo gallery. Supplemental monitoring equipment has been added to the steering column and lower dash structure, consisting of an aftermarket Equus tachometer and a mechanical oil pressure gauge to keep tabs on the built engine.

The engine compartment consists of a 383ci stroker V8 that was assembled using a 1978-date-coded block bored .030 over. The engine is built with a forged crankshaft, Liberty Performance pushrods, Morel roller lifters and keepers, 1.5-ratio stainless steel rocker arms, 7/16-inch rocker studs with stabilization girdles, and ARP cylinder head bolts securing a set of 64cc aluminum cylinder heads with 190cc runners. Fuel delivery is handled by an Edelbrock 4150 race carburetor on an aluminum intake manifold, while the valvetrain specs out with a lift of .495/.502 inches and a duration of 218/224 degrees at .050" lift. Power is sent through a rebuilt TH350 3 speed automatic transmission fitted with a B&M 2,800-rpm stall converter.

The chassis retains its factory independent front coil and rear leaf-spring suspension layout, aided by factory power-assisted steering. The front disc brakes have been overhauled with new front calipers, fresh rotors, and braided stainless steel fluid lines at all four corners to maximize hydraulic pressure. Spent gasses flow through a newer, custom-routed 2.5-inch stainless steel dual exhaust system equipped with aggressive Flowmaster Super 10-series mufflers.
