This 1961 Ford Galaxie Club Victoria carefully upgrades a classic tailfin cruiser by prioritizing mechanical drivability and highway comfort over radical visual changes. Integrating a Gear Vendors overdrive into the rebuilt transmission and adding electric steering, adjustable front coilovers, 4 corner disc brakes and a modern Vintage Air system shows the builder wanted a highly capable cruiser for the modern world while preserving the car's early-1960s cabin charm. All the next owner has to do is get in and turn the key!

Description

This 1961 Ford Galaxie Club Victoria coupe is a custom restomod that blends classic early-1960s styling with modern powertrain, chassis, and comfort upgrades. Having spent time in Florida under previous ownership, the car was acquired by the current owner three years ago, who subsequently completed numerous high-end modifications. Representing the final model year for the Galaxie's iconic rear tailfins, this coupe features an upgraded 390ci V8, a rebuilt C4 automatic transmission with a modern overdrive unit, and an adjustable front suspension. It is currently located in Massachusetts and is offered with clean Massachussetts registration by the selling dealer.

The exterior is finished in Custom Brown Metallic paint, accented by a clean roof profile and well-aligned body panels. All of the factory chrome and stainless steel side, trunk lid, and rear fender trim remain intact and in excellent condition.

The car has been modernized with a set of custom 17" front & 18" rear Ridler wheels wrapped in new Sumitomo HTR ZII performance tires.

The engine compartment features a rebuilt 390ci FE V8 that has been customized with premium aluminum cylinder heads, a mild camshaft, and a new Quick Fuel Technology carburetor. The engine is dressed in chrome, including the custom valve covers, a matching chrome air cleaner, and a new polished serpentine belt accessory drive system. Cooling is handled by an upgraded radiator setup, and a newer 2.5-inch exhaust system features dash-controlled electric cutouts leading to rear-exiting Gibson chrome tips. Power is routed through a completely rebuilt C4 automatic transmission that has been enhanced with a Gear Vendors under/overdrive kit, providing a fourth cruising gear.

The chassis benefits from significant handling and steering upgrades, including the addition of a power electric steering system and power-assisted front and rear Wilwood disc brakes. The front suspension has been updated with adjustable coilover shocks for tuneable ride height and damping, while the rear retains factory-style leaf springs and shocks. Stopping power is vastly improved by an all-around Wilwood disc brake system featuring slotted rotors.

The cabin features a refreshed bench-seat interior with a matching center console and integrated cup holders.

The beautifully painted factory dashboard is fitted with a stock-looking AM/FM stereo and a custom GT steering wheel (a matching horn kit and cover will be installed prior to sale). Gear selection is managed by a floor-mounted Lokar shifter. To monitor vital engine metrics, a trio of aftermarket Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite gauges for water temperature, voltage, and oil pressure have been integrated into the dash layout. Passenger comfort is ensured via a recently installed Vintage Air climate control system. The trunk compartment is fully detailed with a factory-style mat, a spare tire, and changing tools.
