Wrench Report
RestoMods Head Mechanic. 20 year classic car mechanic & builder.
A very nicely built F100 truck. You're gonna have lots of fun with that bored and fully rebuilt 351ci Cleveland V8, and it comes with some modern drivability thanks to Mustang II-style front suspension, front disc brakes, and highway cruising gears. You can see in the photos that the bumpers and wheels have been color matched to the Cajun Red exterior paint, which rounds out the hot rod look of this truck.
Description
This 1956 Ford F-100 is a custom restomod pickup that has been extensively modified with a rebuilt powertrain, a modern independent front suspension, and upgraded interior features. Representing the final year of the second-generation F-Series truck line, this 1956 example features the highly sought-after single-year wraparound front windshield design with an integrated roof overhang. Overhauled using modern components and garage-kept since its completion, the truck has been preserved to avoid road use in inclement weather and carries a clean Louisiana title by the private seller.

The exterior has been treated to a custom paint job using GM Cajun Red Metallic (Paint Code WA434B). Structural updates include a new tailgate, a matching new rear bumper, brand-new factory-style Ford side mirrors, and an electric windshield wiper conversion. The forward-tilting hood is mounted on modern BMW-style hinges for easier engine bay access, and the original vent windows have been deleted in favor of a solid, single-piece side glass configuration with new weatherstripping. Exterior lighting is thoroughly modernized with bright halogen headlights, LED front parking lights, and LED taillights.

The truck sits on a set of body-color Rallye/Wagon-style steel wheels fitted with polished trim rings and chrome lug nuts. The running boards have been coated in a textured black finish for enhanced durability.

The pickup bed floor has been modified with an all-aluminum diamond-plate sheet that has been sprayed with a body-color protective bed liner.

The cabin features a completely insulated interior structure that was first sealed with a spray-in bed liner before being wrapped top-to-bottom in waterproof foam for enhanced sound deadening and thermal protection. The factory seating was replaced with modern bucket seats sourced from a 2021 Chevrolet Colorado "All Terrain" edition, providing power adjustments, reinforced side and bottom bolsters, and electric lumbar support. The floors are cleanly finished, and the complete electrical layout has been overhauled with a brand-new wiring harness and modern fuse panels. The seller notes that a bench seat can be included with the truck.

The interior also features a new mahogany-rimmed steering wheel mounted to a chrome-plated tilting steering column with an integrated column shifter. The steel metal dashboard retains its smooth vintage architecture, while all of the glass--including the large rear window and front wraparound windshield--features a new tinted finish and fresh rubber seals. An under-dash air conditioning kit utilizing a York compressor and mounting brackets is included with the truck, requiring only the installation of an evaporator, dryer, and plumbing lines to be made fully functional.

The engine bay houses a 351ci Ford Cleveland V8 engine that has been bored .030 over and completely rebuilt with a polished crankshaft, new pistons, rings, rod bearings, a performance camshaft, fresh lifters, and a new timing chain assembly. The small block is equipped with a Moroso oil pan, vintage M/T aluminum valve covers, electronic ignition, a new 100-amp alternator, and a new starter motor, all tucked neatly under a custom engine cover. Cooling is handled by an upgraded radiator core with an alloy overflow tank, and spent gases flow through headers into a 2.5-inch dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. Power is delivered through a completely rebuilt Ford C6 automatic transmission with all-new bearings and rear seals.

The truck rides on a fully updated chassis centering on a Mustang II-style independent front suspension crossmember featuring coil springs and an updated power rack-and-pinion steering gear. The rear axle setup consists of a Ford 8.8-inch rear end fitted with 3.27:1 highway cruising gears. The suspension features new shocks and coil springs at all four corners, while stopping power is thoroughly modernized via a power-assisted braking system utilizing front discs, a replacement master cylinder, and all-new stainless steel hard lines and flexible hoses.
