This phenomenal Fathom Green '69 Camaro Z/28 RS is an investment-grade masterpiece that perfectly captures the peak of the factory muscle car wars. Following a meticulous frame-off restoration, this stunning Z/28 Rally Sport has its legendary "DZ" stamped 302ci V8 paired with a close-ratio M21 four-speed manual transmission. The execution is flawless, the car sounds great, and you get period-correct ancillary components, hidden RS headlights, and brilliant white stripes.

Description

This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS is a factory Rally Sport example that underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2010 to return the car to its original production specifications. The car is powered by its numbers matching 302ci DZ V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear end. Finished in its factory color scheme of Fathom Green over black upholstery, the car has been driven fewer than 10,000 miles since the completion of the restoration work. It is now offered with a clean California title by the private seller.

The exterior was refinished in its factory-directed Fathom Green (57-57) paint during the 2010 restoration. As a true Rally Sport according to the seller, the car features a specific grille assembly with concealed headlights. Additional features include an original cowl-induction hood, a rear lip spoiler, and white Z/28 sports stripes on the hood and trunk lid. The car rides on 15x7" Rally wheels mounted with Goodyear F60-15 white-letter tires, and a matching spare is stored in the trunk.

The engine bay houses a numbers matching 4.9-liter (302ci) V8 featuring a "DZ" stamped engine block, which was factory rated at 290 horsepower. Period-correct and numbers-matching ancillary components include a Holley DZ 4053 carburetor, a "9204" brake booster, an "837" alternator, and a "UH" code radiator. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an M21 close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt "BU" code rear axle assembly featuring a Posi-traction differential with 3.73:1 gears.

The chassis and undercarriage were fully detailed during the frame-off restoration to replicate assembly-line appearance, with the floors finished in appropriate red oxide primer. The rear suspension utilizes factory-specification four-leaf springs. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering and a power front disc brake system with rear drums. The dual exhaust system is routed in the factory location, utilizing a transverse muffler mounted behind the rear axle.

The cabin features standard black vinyl (711) upholstery over front bucket seats and a rear bench. The interior maintains its stock appearance with a floor-mounted Hurst shifter, factory-style lap belts, and standard door cards. The body-colored dashboard houses a factory two-pod instrument cluster containing a 120-mph speedometer and a fuel level gauge. The mechanical odometer shows less than 10,000 miles since the restoration, though total chassis mileage is unknown. Additional photos in the gallery show the Camaro's cowl tag, engine stamping, and transmission stampings.
