Wrench Report
RestoMods Head Mechanic. 20 year classic car mechanic & builder.
This Chevelle is a absolute monster of a pro-touring build that perfectly blends modern ZL1 performance with that classic A-body muscle. Bringing an LSA and a TR6060 six-speed over from a 2013 Camaro is a massive upgrade, and you can tell the work was done right by the fact that American Legends was brought in to professionally fab the trans tunnel to fit that big gearbox. It's got that visceral, high-tech feel from the second you sit in the bolstered TMI buckets and grab that suede Momo wheel, and the way it puts 700 horsepower to the ground through the QA1 coilovers and massive 305-series rear tires is just on another level. I love the aggressive, sinister look of the Ruby Red tri-coat against all that blacked-out trim and custom-fabricated bumpers, which gives it a high-end, custom presence without losing its tough grit. There's some minor flaws in the paint here and there and some wonky interior fitment but that wouldn't deter me from enjoying the hell out of this Chevelle. This isn't just a car for looking at--it's a fully sorted, driver-focused machine with the Wilwood stopping power and modern cooling to handle real-world roads.
Description
This 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu is a pro-touring build finished in Lincoln Ruby Red Tri-coat. It is powered by an LSA supercharged 6.2-liter V8 paired with a TR6060 six-speed manual transmission, both sourced from a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The build was initiated by an individual in Arizona in 2018, who built most of the car in its current configuration, and subsequently sold the project to Victory Lap Classics of Sacramento, CA in 2023. The build was finished that year and sold to a private party out of Washington, who then sold it to the selling dealer in September of 2024. Features include QA1 coilover suspension, Wilwood disc brakes, 20" Ferrada wheels, a full TMI interior with VintageAir A/C, and Dakota Digital instrumentation. This Chevelle is now offered by the selling dealer RestoMods (Dealer ID# 03810) with two sets of keys and a clean Washington title.

The entire body, including the cowl-induction hood, is finished in Lincoln Ruby Red Tri-coat (RR) featuring extra metal flake and three coats of clear. The paint and bodywork was completed in 2023 shortly before the vehicle was sold to Victory Lap Classics. All of the chrome on the car has been replaced with black trim and accents.
Key custom exterior touches include:
- Color-Matched, Fabricated Bumpers: The original chrome bumpers have been replaced with custom-fabricated steel bumpers painted to match the body. The front bumper features an integrated chin spoiler, and the rear bumper incorporates a performance diffuser.
- Blacked-Out Trim: The front grille, headlight bezels, window trim, door handles, and all badging have been finished in a uniform black.
- Lighting: The car has Octane LED projector headlights and a sequence-controlled LED taillight setup, replacing all original lighting.
- Chassis: The frame and the rear end were stripped and powder-coated satin black during the build process.
- Staggered-width 20" Ferrada FR2 black wheels are installed, mounted with Lexani LX-Twenty tires measuring 245/30 up front and 305/30 in the rear.

The LSA supercharged 6.2L V8 and TR6060 six-speed manual transmission was sourced directly from a low-mileage 2013 Camaro ZL1 and installed by the original builder. Documentation provided by the original builder shows that the powertrain was installed at some point in 2019. The engine has been tuned to a reported 700 horsepower and features:
- Rotofab cold air intake with an integrated heat shield.
- Custom aluminum supercharger reservoir and an upgraded late-model Camaro cooling system.
- Headman long-tube headers leading to a high-flow 3" X-pipe exhaust system.
- Pypes Racepro mufflers with manual exhaust cutouts.
- Moroso oil pan, a comprehensive AN fuel system, and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
To ensure proper fitment of the larger 6-speed gearbox, the transmission tunnel was professionally fabricated and installed by the renowned American Legends Hot Rods. The transmission is operated via a matching late-model Camaro shifter and a high-performance hydraulic clutch.

Documentation from the original builder also indicates that all of the handling modifications were completed in late 2018. Handling modifications include a complete QA1 coilover suspension system. Features include tubular upper and lower control arms (front and rear), adjustable coilovers at all four corners, and a specific QA1 heavy-duty sway bar. The factory 4-link rear configuration is retained for optimal handling and geometry. Stopping power comes from a Wilwood power disc brake system with 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rear calipers, supported by a Wilwood master cylinder and a precise electronic "Air" e-brake.

The original builder reported that much of the interior was yet to be installed when the car was sold to Victory Lap Classics in 2023. Victory Lap Classics finished the interior, installing the TMI Products interior that the builder had in boxes. This included heavily bolstered front bucket seats, a matching TMI rear bench cover, a full-length center console, and custom door panels. Recent updates by the selling dealer include a new black carpet kit and a Momo suede-wrapped steering wheel.
Modern conveniences include:
- VintageAir A/C integrated into the custom center console.
- Dakota Digital gauges with modern, clear readouts.
- Suede headliner and a fully upholstered trunk kit.
- Kenwood Bluetooth head unit paired with a Skar Audio speaker system.
- Custom installation of the matching late-model Camaro pedal assembly.

Included with the vehicle are two sets of keys, and a binder with receipts to parts that the selling dealer has installed on the car. The vehicle is located in San Diego, California.

Comments & Bids
We got really close guys! Thank you all for the bids and comments, I will see if we can make a deal with @Garydinapoli
I think, The seller will contact the highest bidder first to see if they can work something out.
Sorry, didnt see that the reserve was not met. Will they try again another day or week?
yes sir on this website this morning it showed that on march 30th it had sold , I cant seem to get it to show again though. but also this morning when I was registering to bid it wouldn't let me, but now my card has went through.
this morning on this web site it said it was sold on march 30th? maybe it was a past action that didnt sell?
so looking at the history this car sold less than a month ago? why sell it so quick?
Any idea of actual mileage on motor? Also, any data on engine tuning?
I will be in San Diego during the auction, can I see the car in person?
